★[for HK PolyU students] 2026 Spring Semester Application Announcement for The Dual Ph.D. Degree Program

The following guidance pertains to the admission process for students from the School of Fashion and Textiles at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University who wish to apply for a dual degree program with the Department of Fashion and Textiles at Seoul National University:

1. Timeline

2. Units and Quota Open for Admission
   1) Units: Department of Fashion and Textiles at Seoul National University (hereafter SNU)
   2) Eligible applicant: Graduate students from the School of Fashion and Textiles at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (hereafter PolyU)
   3) Quota: Up to 2 people
   4) Program: Dual degree program for doctoral students 

3. Qualification for Application
   1) Applicants who have completed at least 6 consecutive semesters/ terms at PolyU at the time of admission to the Department of Fashion and Textiles at SNU (according to MOU)
   2) Applicants with proof of language proficiency (in at least one of Korean or English) 

4. Evaluation Elements and Selection Criteria
   1) Comprehensive evaluation: 100 points (50 points for academic accomplishment, 50 points for aptitude, language proficiency, extracurricular activities, interview, and etc.)
   2) Selection criteria: Applicants with a comprehensive evaluation score of 60 or higher 

5. Disqualification Criteria
   1) Applicants who do not meet the criteria stated in Qualification for Application
   2) Applicants who have not submitted required documents
   3) Applicants who have provided false information on submitted documents or applied through fraudulent means such as forgery or falsification
   4) Applicants who do not meet the Qualification for Application may be disqualified even after the evaluation process is completed 

6. Dual Degree Application Schedule
   1) Application submission: September 19, 2025 (Friday) ~ September 30, 2025 (Tuesday)
   2) Submission method: submit all documents at dp.tmfd@snu.ac.kr 

7. Required Documents

② Personal Statement and Study Plan (This document should include the name of the professor theywish to be supervised by at SNU, as well as name of theircurrent supervising professor at PolyU)	○
③ Ph.D. Program Academic Transcript from PolyU	○
④ Bachelor’s Program, Masters’s Program Academic Transcripts	○
⑤ Letter of Recommendation from Academic Advisor at PolyU	○
⑥ Proof of Language Proficiency (in at least one of Koreanor English) - English: TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, IELTS Academic Band Score6.0 or higher, TEPS 269 or higer - Korean: TOPIK level 3 or higher	○
⑦ Copy of Identification (Passport or ID card)	○

Additional Notes:
※ You may also submit additional reference materials such as a résumé, certificates, summaries of your thesis, reports, etc.
※ All documents must be submitted in their original form. When submitting copies of documents, the original copy must be provided for comparison before you enter SNU.
※ When submitting documents that are not written in English or Korean, a copy of a notarized translation must be provided.
